PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a monolayer photoreceptor that gives a latent image with high resolution, and reducing production of defective images such as a memory image. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus is equipped with at least: an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a monolayer photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate having a light transmitting property for destaticizing light, the photosensitive layer containing a charge generating substance having an electron transporting ability and a hole transporting substance, or a charge generating substance, an electron transporting substance and a hole transporting substance; a charging means charging the electrophotographic photoreceptor into negative charges; an exposing means irradiating the electrophotographic photoreceptor with exposure light to form an electrostatic latent image corresponding to image information; a developing means developing the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image; a transfer means transferring the toner image; and a destaticizing means irradiating the electrophotographic photoreceptor through the conductive substrate side with destaticizing light to destaticize the residual charges of the electrophotographic photoreceptor.
