<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of subjectively improving image quality of the whole of a stream by uniformly setting the image quality on every image, in an encoder encoding an input image to an output image. <P>SOLUTION: For an encoded processing unit, a quantization error average value Diff_Ave of I, P, B pictures is calculated as a measured value large in dispersion. For a non-encoded processing unit, the quantization error average value Diff_Ave of I, P, B pictures is set as a target value small in dispersion. the processing result of an encoding process of the encoded processing unit is consulted in an encoding process of the non-encoded processing unit and fed back. By uniformly setting a quantization error on an image basis, and thereby uniformly setting image quality for every image, image quality of the whole of a stream can be subjectively improved. A read-ahead process of the non-encoded processing unit is not required and thereby real-time processing can be executed without increasing circuit scale. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
