<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that performs color display with high light use efficiency by using a blue light source, and has no light leak and superior contrast performance. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display, the blue light source for emitting blue light, a liquid crystal element having a liquid crystal layer and a pair of deflecting plates holding the liquid crystal layer, and a color filter having a phosphor excited with the blue light to emit red fluorescent light and a phosphor excited with the blue light to emit green fluorescent light are arranged in this order. An orthogonal transmittance of a pair of the polarizing plates satisfies the following expression (1): Tc450≤0.01%, wherein the Tc450 represents the orthogonal transmittance for light of wavelength of 450 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
