PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-direction image capturing apparatus that captures an image of an object in the multi-direction with a single image sensor, and also facilitates securing an angle of view and achieving thin type and high performance. SOLUTION: The multi-direction image capturing apparatus includes an imaging optical system 1101 and an imaging optical system 1102. Each imaging optical system includes a prism and a brightness diaphragm having an aperture for limiting a light beam entering the prism. Each prism has a plane of incidence, a positive-power reflecting surface and an outgoing plane. The brightness diaphragm is disposed just in front of the plane of incidence of the prism, the side of a first prism and the side of a second prism are made opposite to each other, and a light shielding material is disposed between the respective sides, or the side is a diffusion surface. When the direction vertical to the imaging surface is S-axis direction, the direction orthogonal to the S-axis direction, in which two imaging optical systems are arranged side by side is V-axis direction, and the direction orthogonal to the S-axis direction and V-axis direction is H-axis direction, the aperture of each brightness diaphragm is such that the size in the V-axis direction is smaller than the size in the direction orthogonal to it.
