<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a long chain fatty acid triglyceride capable of producing the long chain fatty acid triglyceride in a good efficiency and also inhibiting ester hydrolysis on introducing steam for removing unreacted long chain fatty acid. <P>SOLUTION: This long chain fatty acid triglyceride is produced through an esterification process of performing the esterification reaction of glycerol with a 12-22C long chain fatty acid of 1.05 to 1.5 equivalent based on 1 equivalent hydroxy group of the glycerol in the presence of a catalyst containing iron by 1 to 10 ppm (the weight ratio to the total weight of the glycerol and long chain fatty acid) in terms of the iron to obtain a reaction mixture containing the long chain fatty acid triglyceride, and a steaming process of removing the unreacted long chain fatty acid by introducing the steam to the above reaction system after the completion of the esterification process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
