The production of metallic parts, namely sheet metal parts, with high mechanical resistance and formability, represents today a big challenge for the automobile, aerospace and foodstuff industries. The present invention relates to a new plastic shaping process which, by controlling the strain path change, allows the production of sheet metal parts with a grain size of 1-2 microns and, consequently, with a yield point 3-4 times higher than those obtained, for example, by conventional rolling methods, keeping the same formability. The method can be easily implemented on an industrial scale and optimization requires only two operational parameters that characterize the thickness reduction rate against shear deformation and amplitude of strain path inversion. |
