<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound soft magnetic material which can be enhanced in mechanical strength while maintaining usual insulating characteristics, and a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Magnetic particles are coated with a brazing filler metal containing at least one kind among Cu, Ni, Ag, and Au, and Ti and/or Zr, and then coated with at least one kind between inorganic sol and a ceramic precursor solution, thereafter a plurality of magnetic particles are compressed and compacted, and heat-treated. Consequently, the compound soft magnetic material 1 is obtained which includes a plurality of magnetic particles 3 coated with a coating 2 containing at least one kind among Cu, Ni, Ag and Au, and Ti and/or Zr and mutually bonded together, and an insulating layer 4 interposed between mutually adjacent magnetic particles 3.
