An airbag for a pedestrian or the like which may be reduced in overlapped thickness of a folded member and may be reduced in volume of the folded member (package volume) and an airbag apparatus using the airbag is provided. A vertically inflated portion 10b of an airbag 10 is pleated along folding lines w extending in the direction of the width of a vehicle body. Then, an area of a laterally inflated portion 10a on the lateral side with respect to the vehicle body and a folded member of the vertically inflated portion are folded back along a folding line F extending in the fore-and-aft direction toward a center side with respect to the vehicle body, and the folded member of the laterally inflated portion 10a and the vertically inflated portion 10b is pushed into the case 20. Then, a remaining portion of the airbag 10 extending around the pushed portion is pushed into the case 20. Then, a band 25 is put around the airbag 10 and the case 20 to obtain an airbag apparatus 40. |
