METHOD OF ELIMINATED ACRYLIC ACID AND MOISTURE FROM SUPER-ABSORBENT POLYMER

PURPOSE: A method for preparing superabsorbent polymer is provided to effectively reduce toxic acrylic acid remaining within the super absorbent polymer and dimmer thereof within a fast time in a low temperature condition. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing superabsorbent polymer comprises the steps of: (a) injecting pressurized fluid or supercritical fluid or their mixture into the superabsorbent polymer formed by polymerizing acrylic acid dissolved in a solvent, acrylate monomer, and crosslinking monomer; (b) extracting acrylic acid remaining within the superabsorbent polymer using the pressurized fluid, supercritical fluid or their mixture; (c) pressurizing and separating the pressurized fluid dissolved in a solvent, supercritical fluid or their mixture; and (d) recovering the superabsorbent polymer from which acrylic acid is removed.
