<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a driver's stress by suppressing the occurrence of traffic accidents at a higher probability. <P>SOLUTION: In a situation in which own vehicle keeps a fixed following distance to the preceding vehicle and a surrounding vehicle running in an adjacent lane to own vehicle is ahead of own vehicle, the surrounding vehicle is predicted to cut in between own vehicle and the preceding vehicle, on the basis of the behavior of the surrounding vehicle. The driver is then warned of the possibility of cutting in and is advised to keep a larger inter-vehicle distance to the preceding vehicle, and own vehicle is braked automatically, as necessary. In this way, potentially hazardous situation can be predicted, on the basis of delicate behavior of the surrounding vehicle to reduce the driver's stress of traffic accident avoidance and prevent traffic accident. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
