<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying silicon capable of effectively removing a chemically inactive granular impurity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for purifying the silicon includes a melting process for preparing a silicon molten liquid by heating a recovered silicon containing either of silicon dioxide, silicon carbide, silicon nitride or diamond as a granular impurity, a grinding process for obtaining silicon particles by grinding a silicon block obtained by cooling the silicon molten liquid and an acid washing process for removing the silicon dioxide together with the granular impurity by washing the silicon particles with the acid solution.
