PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous heat treatment furnace with easy control of an atmosphere in a heating chamber, capable of omitting pre-acid cleaning when carrying out rolled stock treatment, and capable of obtaining a treated product with favorable post acid cleaning characteristics with respect to both treatment products of a rolled stock and a wire drawing member. SOLUTION: A first cooling chamber 4 carrying out cooling of a treatment product in an inert gas atmosphere, a vacuum purge chamber 5, and a second cooling chamber 6 carrying out cooling of the treatment product in an oxidizing gas atmosphere are connected in this order to one end of the heating chamber 3 equipped with an anterior chamber 2 in another end and carrying out heating of the treatment product in an inert gas atmosphere. It is composed so as to carry out cooling of the treatment product by selecting one of cooling in the inert gas atmosphere in the first cooling chamber 4 or cooling in the oxidizing gas atmosphere in the second cooling chamber 6 in response to the type of the treatment product with respect to the treatment produce W sent into the heating chamber 3 via the anterior chamber 2 and heated.
