<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission gear and a tape printer having the transmission gear, capable of surely transmitting power. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The tape printer includes: an input means for inputting printing information; a carrying means for carrying a printing tape from a tape cassette, a transmission means for transmitting driving force for operating the carrying means; a printing means for printing the printing information on a printing layer of the printing tape; a cutting means for forming a label by cutting the printing tape in the width direction; and a control means for controlling the respective means. The transmission means is the transmission gear 100 including a worm 70 rotating by receiving driving force from a driving source, a worm wheel 80 meshing with the worm 70, and a worm gear holding member 60 for maintaining meshing between the worm 70 and the worm wheel 80 by holding the worm wheel 80 by engaging with the tip of the worm 70.
