<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of analyzing a segregation degree without polishing any cross-section surface of a cast piece sample, and capable of conducting the analysis of the segregation degree over a short period (about 2-4 hours) in which the process to be conducted is shifted from a continuous casting process to a rolling process. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cast piece sample 2 which is melted down so as to include a center segregation part 4 produced near the center of a cast piece in the thickness direction on the continuous-casting machine output side, is directly used as a sample to be analyzed without carrying out any surface polishing, and then each irradiation point 3 being set on the surface of the sample to be analyzed is irradiated with laser light for the same point repeatedly a plurality of times, thereby conducting a laser emission spectroscopic analysis while melting a scale formed in the surface.
