<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of switching of a valve driving condition by driving connection pins with rotational force of a rotating cam used as power and switching the valve driving condition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A switching mechanism for this variable valve train 9 includes: the connection pins 30a, 30b arranged displaceably between a connection position striding over a portion between an input member 11 and output members 14a, 14b and a non-connection position not striding over the portion therebetween; a connection/drive mechanism 40 provided between the connection pins 30a, 30b and one side surface of the rotating cam 24a provided on a camshaft 20 and driving the connection pins 30a, 30b to the connection position with the rotational force used as power by inputting the rotational force of the rotating cam 24a from a side surface when the camshaft 20 is displaced to one side; and a disconnection mechanism 60 provided between the connection pins 30a, 30b and the other side surface of the rotating cam 24b provided on the camshaft 20 and driving the connection pins 30a, 30b to the non-connection position with the rotational power used as power by inputting the rotational force of the rotating cam 24b from the side surface when the camshaft 20 is displaced to the other side.
