<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor that reduces processing load of image data read out from a memory by improving operating efficiency of the memory for compressing and storing the image data to a draft outside of a regular size which is read in an image reading portion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image processor 1 includes: an image processing portion 5 that carries out a predetermined image processing for the image data read by a draft reading portion 30 and stores the same in an image-storing portion 40; an image processing system 10 including an output image data-generating portion 53 for generating data outputted from the processed image data; and a system control portion 9 for controlling the image processing system 10. In the image processor, the system control portion 9 is configured such that the data capable of determining a sub-scanning direction or main-scanning direction of the image data insufficient to the regular size are stored in the image-storing portion 40 if the draft size is smaller than the regular one.
