<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control rod which can prevent irradiation-assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC), has long nuclear lifetime and which can be readily manufactured. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The control rod 1 is constituted by welding an upper end segment 6, two center segment 27 and 37 and a lower-end segment 38 to each other. The upper-end segment 6 is constituted of a pair of blade elements, including a handle made of one metal plate and a pair of neutron-absorbing filling parts. The center segments 27 and 37 are constituted of blade elements, including a pair of neutron-absorbing filling parts coupled, at a junction made of one metal plate and two blade elements including the neutron absorber filling parts. The lower-end segment 38 is constituted of a pair of blade elements, including a lower support made of one metal plate and a pair of neutron-absorbing filling parts.
