<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit fuel from infiltrating into heat insulating film formed on a piston crown surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A fuel injection timing control device for an engine 1 includes a piston 22 slidably provided in a cylinder 21, the heat insulating film 23 provided on the piston crown surface 22a and comprising porous material, and a fuel injection valve 35 injecting fuel to an intake port 31. The device includes a fuel injection start timing setting means 4 setting a fuel injection start timing in the exhaust stroke in a steady state operation zone in which a throttle opening change quantity is smaller than a prescribed quantity, and advances the fuel injection start timing more as the throttle opening change quantity is smaller.
