<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert that achieves extremely low-depth cutting or finishing cutting without impairing a chip treatment performance and that has a long service life even if used for medium-depth cutting. <P>SOLUTION: In the cutting insert, a projected portion 5 is formed on a rake face 2 inside the corner section 4A of a cutting blade 4; a pair of convex portions 7 extends to both sides toward the cutting blade 4 from the wall surface 5D of the projected portion 5 to the rake face 2 with a bisector L of the corner section 4A therebetween; a first wall surface 7A of these convex portions 7 facing the corner section 4A and a second wall surface 7B intersecting with the first wall surface 7A at the intersecting ridgeline M form an inclined surface toward the rake face 2 as the first and second wall surfaces depart from the intersecting ridgeline M; the intersecting ridgeline M intersects with the wall surface 5D at a lower position than the top portion 5C on the side of the corner section 4A of the projected portion 5; and a back wall 8C extending across the bisector L is located on the rake face 2 on the side of the corner section 4A nearer than the protrusion portion 7, the back wall being between the corner section 4A and the convex portion 7 and forming a concave portion 8 for constituting the concave portion for the cutting blade 4 on the corner section 4A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
