PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily exchange a light source of an illuminator for a microscope to use. SOLUTION: LED modules 21a to 21c including LED chips 41a to 41c and memories 42a to 42c in which characteristic data showing the characteristic of the LED chips 41a to 41c are recorded are detachably attached to an LED illumination part 11. LED drive circuits 51a to 51c of the illumination controller 12 respectively drive the LED chips 41a to 41c of the LED modules 21a to 21c. An LED control circuit 52 reads the characteristic data recorded in the memories 42a to 42c of the LED modules 21a to 21c and controls the LED drive circuits 51a to 51c on the basis of the read characteristic data.
