<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the nonconformities, wherein when attempting to realize higher resolution and higher frame rate for distance image, there are risks of generating CCD saturation which is influenced by shot noise and the ambient light, or the like, and without lowering the distance precision, when the distance image to an object located at a target space is to be estimated using the TOF method. <P>SOLUTION: In a distance estimation device, an illumination light which uses distance estimation is irradiated to the object from a light source which can irradiate the light, having a predetermined illumination frequency (light(electromagnetic waves)). The distance estimation device receives the reflected light of the illumination light; obtains the distance information on the distance from the device to the object; generates the distance image data, based on the obtained distance information; extracts profile information of the color image obtained from a visible light component, obtained in synchronization with the reflected light of the distance estimation illumination light; and estimates the distance, by correcting the distance information corresponding part of the distance image, using the distance information of a neighbor of the corresponding part of the distance image, based on the profile information extracted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
