PURPOSE: A method and a system for protecting personal information are provided to selectively encode a field corresponding to personal information in data, thereby preventing leakage of the personal information of the data. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(11) stores a personal information pattern. According to personal information, the personal information pattern is defined. A pattern acquisition unit(20) analyzes data in a PC(Personal Computer). A controller(30) selectively masks a personal information field of data including the personal information pattern according to a set policy.
