<p>A process for producing a lithographic printing plate which comprises treating a lithographic printing plate precursor having a photosensitive layer containing a hexaarylbiimidazole compound and a protective layer with a developing solution containing a specific organic solvent and at least either a surfactant or a water-soluble polymer. The generation of development scum is inhibited in the process, and both satisfactory developability and satisfactory printing durability can be attained. The printing plate precursor can be treated with one bath, which is the weakly alkaline developing solution. The process hence has merits including simplification of treatment steps, friendliness to the global environment, space saving, and suitability for a reduction in running cost.</p> |
