PURPOSE: A power control system of an image display device capable of reducing power on time, and a method thereof are provided to turn on a power source with one input of a power source key using recognition of an OFF-DET signal. CONSTITUTION: A method of reducing power on time using a power control system of an image display device comprises the following steps: supplying a stand-by power to a TV using a power supply controller(20) by an input of a first power key signal; supplying an OFF-DET signal to a controller(30) from the power supply controller when an on-signal is inputted to a second power key; supplying an AC DET signal from the power supply controller when a relay on signal is inputted by the controller; supplying the relay on signal to the power supply controller when the OFF-DET signal is supplied; and operating the TV by the controller using the AC DET signal.
