A sensor element (10) is positioned on rear face (13b) of a panel element (13), and firmly connected to the panel element. The sensor element and the panel element together form a capacitive sensor area. A conversion electronics system (16) is positioned on the rear face of the panel element, firmly connected to the panel element and electrically conductively connected to the sensor element. The sensor element and the conversion electronics system are mechanically decoupled from a control electronics system (20) of domestic appliance.
