A baby carrier comprises a plastics moulding having sides 23, a back 21 and a pocketed bottom 26 into which detachable wheel mountings are inserted, the wheels having serrated outer surfaces engaged by pivoted pawls thus preventing movement of the wheels in one direction. Pivots 90 on the sides of the carrier engage slots in the handle member 73 so that when engaged with projections 100, 102 on the back 21 swinging of the carrier about the pivots 90 is prevented. A stand is engaged in bosses 48 on the back 21 and on a selected pair of bosses 41-47 to enable the inclination of the carrier to be varied.
