<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detector which is simple in structure, is easy to manufacture, and can detect a magnetic field with high precision for an external magnetic field. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnetic detector 1 includes a magnetic impedance element 3 and a pickup coil 5 for extracting a change in the impedance of the magnetic impedance element 3 as an electric signal. The magnetic impedance element 3 is made longer than a pickup coil arrangement area 6. The pickup coil 5 is arranged in a longitudinal middle part 4 of the magnetic impedance element 3.
