摘要 Disclosed is a molecular device (10) manufactured by crosslinking a functional molecule (16) provided in a space (15) between a source electrode (13) and a drain electrode (14).  The functional molecule (16) has a side chain formed of a pendant molecule that has a dielectric anisotropy and/or a dipole moment and undergoes a change in alignment upon exposure to an electric field, and a main chain formed of a conjugated molecule, to which the side chain is covalently bonded.  A change in alignment of the pendant molecule causes a conformation change of the main chain, resulting in a change in electric properties.  An electric field applied to the pendant molecule of the functional molecule (16) by gate electrodes (17, 18) allows the molecular device (10) to function as a diode, a transistor, or a memory.  One molecular device can be used as a diode, a transistor, or a memory by regulating the electric field applied.  Thus, the molecular device can provide a device having a necessary function at a low cost.
