PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of attaining both improvement of on-ice performance and improvement of durability. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire has a plurality of sipes 6 extending in a tire width direction which are spaced apart in a tire peripheral direction at a shoulder block 5a divided by at least vertical grooves extending in the tire peripheral direction and lateral grooves extending in the tire width direction, wherein open sipes 6a and closed sipes 6b are alternatively arranged and at the same time a depth of the open sipe 6a is shallower than a depth of the closed sipe 6b.
