<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a specified kind of material which tends to generate fine particles with a rapid and efficient method. <P>SOLUTION: A blade guard is configured to surround a rotatable cutting blade. The blade guard includes an arcuate body mounted to surround a portion of an outer circumferential edge of the cutting blade, wherein the arcuate body is fixed with respect to the rotatable blade. A plenum is disposed upon the body and configured to provide fluid communication between a cutting zone within the body and a suction source.
