PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair treatment composition giving soft, glossy, and collectable hair, preventing bedhead, and facilitating styling durable for a long time. SOLUTION: The hair treatment composition comprises components (a) and (b): (a) a compound having two or three amino acid residues, represented by general formula (1), or a salt thereof, wherein X represents a hydrocarbon group, arginine, alanine or the like, Y represents an amino acid residue or the like selected from an arginine residue, an alanine residue, a glycine residue, a glutamine residue, a glutamic acid residue, a serine residue, a proline residue, and a 4-hydroxyproline residue, R represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C monovalent hydrocarbon group which may be substituted with a hydroxy group, m and n each represents 0 or 1, provided that when m and n represent 1 simultaneously, X is not an amino acid residue; and (b) an≤8C aliphatic carboxylic acid or a salt thereof.
