LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DRIVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of providing optimum luminance matching brightness of the local region of video images.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal panel in which many pixels are arrayed in a matrix form; a backlight control part for generating at least one PWM signal for emitting light of mutually different luminance in at least one divided region divided from the video images of one frame to be displayed on the liquid crystal panel; a backlight unit including at least one block sectioned so as to correspond to at least one divided region; and a backlight driver for supplying at least one drive signal corresponding to the at least one PWM signal to at least one block in the backlight unit.
