<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity of a bookbinding apparatus having a movable carriage and a bookbinding system equipped with the bookbinding apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding apparatus (casing-in bookbinding machine 3) has a bookbinding part 31 which book-binds booklets, an accommodation casing part 331 which accumulates the booklets book-bound by the bookbinding part 31, the movable carriage 336, an attached part 33b to which the carriage 336 is attached attachably/detachably, and a transferring/loading part 332 which transfers and loads the booklets accumulated in the accommodation casing part 331 to the carriage 336 attached to the attached part 33b. The bookbinding part 31, when the booklets accumulated in the accommodation casing part 331 do not reach a prescribed accumulation upper limit, can implement a booklet bookbinding movement even when the carriage 336 is not attached to attached part 33b.
