<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate nip force control in various contact stages with a medium within a nip by determining a plurality of forces applied to a transfer roller facing an imaging member in a printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer includes the imaging member 12; the transfer roller 94 arranged adjoining the imaging member; a control device configured to generate signals for controlling the movement of the transfer roller 94; and a displaceable link mechanism 240 connected to the control device to receive the signals from the control device for controlling the movement of the transfer roller 94, and connected to the transfer roller 94 to move the transfer roller 94 into and out of contact with the imaging member 12. The displaceable link mechanism 240 applies a first move of the transfer roller 94 into contact with the imaging member 12 to form a transfer nip at a commanded first force, applies a second move to the transfer roller 94 at a commanded second force, and applies a third move to the transfer roller 94 at a commanded third force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
