PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily combine image data which are divided and scanned, in generating whole image data of a reading object document. SOLUTION: In scanning the reading object document 31 which is divided into a plurality of times, position information for indicating the position in a transparent sheet fixes the reading object document 31 to a cover sheet 32 described in a drop out color. By using a scanner 19, a composite image containing a drop out color and an original image which does not contain the drop out color corresponding to the composite image are read by dividing them into a plurality of times. On the basis of the position information extracted from the composite image, a character recognition section 12 specifies the position of the composite image as the position of the original image which is read so that the drop out color should not be contained. After that, a data coupling section 13 arranges a plurality of original images in the specified positions, respectively, so as to couple them and generate the whole image data of the reading object document 31.
