The system (1) has a multifunction operating unit (10) integrated into a vehicle at a predetermined fixed position, and another multifunction operating unit (20) designed as a portable remote control unit. The former operating unit has a manual operating unit (14), which is designed as a central operating unit with degrees of freedom. The degrees of freedom and operating processes of a central operating element of the former operating unit are emulated on the latter operating unit. An optical display unit (12) of the former operating unit is implemented as a screen display.
