PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quiet air conditioner with improved safety, capable of surely generating electrostatic mist. SOLUTION: An indoor unit of the air conditioner includes inlet ports 2a, 2b for sucking indoor air in, a prefilter 5 for removing dust included in the air sucked by the inlet ports 2a, 2b, a heat exchanger 6 for exchanging heat with the sucked air, an indoor fan 8 for conveying the air heat-exchanged by the heat exchanger 6, an outlet 10 for blowing out the air sent by the indoor fan 8, and a main passage 20 communicated with the inlet ports 2a, 2b and the outlet 10. The indoor unit is further provided with a bypass passage 22 bypassing the main passage 20, a bulkhead 46c for separating the bypass passage 22 from the main passage 20, and an electrostatic atomizing device 18 provided in the bypass passage 22, having a silencer 32, and generating electrostatic mist.
