PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst composition for hydrogenating aromatic hydrocarbons, having a high hydrogenating ability for hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons, particularly aromatic hydrocarbons in light oil, a high durability against sulfur compounds or nitrogen compounds (including an ammonium gas) and yet less degradation of activities, and a long life. SOLUTION: This catalyst composition for hydrogenating aromatic hydrocarbons is characterized by containing one element selected from heavy rare earth elements and one noble metal selected from the group VIII noble metals of the periodic table (except for hydrogenation catalyst having palladium and/or platinum carried on a super-stabilized Y type zeolite carrier modified with a heavy rare earth element). |
