<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular headlight for automatically changing light distribution depending on the travelling conditions of a vehicle while automatically restoring low beam irradiation even in a trouble of an actuator. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A shade mechanism 15 is provided for shielding part of reflected light from a reflector 13. It consists of four shades 21, 23, 25, 27 provided in the vicinity of the lower side of an optical axis Ax along a plane substantially perpendicular to the optical axis Ax and shaped mutually different to form a cutoff line, a biasing member 44 for biasing the shades 21, 23, 25, 27 in the shielding direction, a solenoid 40 for moving the shades 21, 23, 25, 27 via an elastic member 43 against the biasing force of the biasing member 44 in the evacuating direction during control, a stroke control mechanism 29 for individually restricting the moving strokes of the shades 21, 23, 25, 27 in the evacuating direction at a plurality of drive positions, and a rotating motor 30 for changing the drive positions of the stroke control mechanism 29.
