PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical equipment that accurately corrects image blurrs caused by shift shake, without having to depend on photographer's photographic posture, and to provide a control method thereof. SOLUTION: The radius of rotation, when shift shaking is regarded as angular shake, is obtained in a plurality of frequencies in the frequency component of the shift shaking. Here, whether a finder is used, an eyepiece finder or a non-eyepiece finder, is determined; and based on the result of the determination, composition where respective radius of rotation is subjected to weighting is performed to decide on the ultimate correction amount.
