PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery particularly suitable for high efficiency discharge, by reducing internal impedance. SOLUTION: The secondary battery has an electrode group E of spirally rolling a positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 2 via a separator 3, which is contained in a bottomed cylindrical can 4 and sealed with a cover body 8. The secondary battery has a metal current collecting plate 9 (hereinafter, called as a positive electrode current collecting portion) electrically connected with a metal exposure portion 1a formed at an end face of the positive electrode 1 of the electrode group E. The cover body 8 serving also as a positive electrode terminal is electrically connected with the metal exposure portion 1a or the positive electrode current collecting portion through a metal lead plate 5. The secondary battery has one or more electrolyte resistant metal pressers 10 which are arranged between the positive electrode current collecting portion and the cover body 8, and the positive electrode current collecting portion and the cover body 8 are electrically connected with the metal pressers 10 regardless of the metal lead plate 5, and the electrode group E is put in a state of being pressurized by the cover body 8 and a bottom portion 4a of the bottomed cylindrical can 4.
