PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress absorbing of water and swelling of beet pulp, to improve dispersibility and fluidity of a reaction solution, and to reduce a load on equipment such as a stirrer. SOLUTION: A method for producing an L-arabinose-containing material includes previously carrying out a pulverizing treatment and a heat treatment of the beet pulp in the method for hydrolyzing arabinan, arabinoxylan or arabinogalactan contained in the beet pulp; and thereby affording the L-arabinose-containing material. The pulverizing treatment is a treatment to reduce the beet pulp into a pulverized material having≤5 mm particle diameter. The heat treatment is to treat the beet pulp under conditions of a temperature of 70-160°C and a time of 15-300 min. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
