PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply carry out adjustment of an image forming position in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A test pattern is output, which is the test pattern for adjustment for adjusting an image position on a transfer paper and which is shifted from a normal position on the transfer paper (S101 to S104); the output transfer paper and the test pattern for adjustment which is formed on the transfer paper are read (S105 to 107); the test pattern for adjustment and the end part of the transfer paper are recognized based on the image data for the read image (S108, S109, S115); the distance between the test pattern for adjustment and the end part of the transfer paper is obtained from the position of the recognized end part (S110, S111, S116, S117); and the image position is adjusted from the obtained distance (S112, S118).
