<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow voice call of high sound quality, without having to replace an exchange, in a telephone system for performing call connection control which utilizes the exchange. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A communication terminal that places a voice call via a private branch exchange, while applying encoding corresponding to throughput of the exchange, is made to carry out two processes, wherein first, with a timing when it is instructed to make the voice speech without going via the private branch exchange during the execution of the voice speech, voice data indicative of a predetermined voice pattern and a terminal identifier of the present own terminal are transmitted to an opposite-side terminal. Secondly, with a timing when a response indicative of responding to the switching of a communication mode and a connection destination identifier indicating the connection destination of a communication session are received, the communication session is set up with the connection destination, and transmission/reception of voice data is resumed.
