<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of double-sided printing, which makes productivity compatible with high image quality without decreasing printing speed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a first image carrying unit 20 in which a first image carrying belt 21 is allowed to carry a first image formed by a first image forming unit 80 (Y, C, M and K); a second image carrying unit 30 in which a second image carrying belt 31 is allowed to carry a second image formed by a second image forming unit 81 (Y, C, M and K); first and second transfer means 28 and 34 which transfer the first and the second images carried by the first and the second image carrying units to both sides of a recording medium P; a recording medium conveyance path 43A which includes conveying means 42A and 45 for supplying and conveying the recording medium to space between the first and the second transfer means; and a thermal fixing device 60 which fixes the image transferred to both sides of the recording medium. The first and the second image carrying belts 21 and 31 have an elastic layer of 50 to 500 μ, and the first and the second transfer means transfer toner having a different sign to front and back surfaces of the recording medium P simultaneously. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
