PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine and a method for continuously casting molten metal, which prevent adhesion of nonmetallic inclusions to the inside of a continuous casting nozzle. SOLUTION: The continuous casting machine includes a sliding nozzle and a movable plate driving device 6 for driving movable plates 3. Among the portions in openings 4 of fixed plates 2, portions which are not covered with the movable plates 3, become a runner 5 through which molten metal passes. The movable plate driving device 6 oscillates the movable plates 3 in the range of≥0.5 mm and≤15 mm of amplitude while restraining the variations of an area S<SB>1</SB>of the runner 5 in the range of±5%, and the oscillation frequency is in the range of≥1/sec and≤100/sec. The movable plates 3 preferably comprise two movable plates. By continuously casting molten metal while oscillating movable plates, adhesion of nonmetallic inclusions to the inner wall of a cylindrical inner hole of an immersion nozzle is greatly reduced.
