<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a desired overall centrifugal force applied to a sample to be the same as the centrifugal force in a normal operation, even in case of cutoff of the power supply during the operation of a centrifuge. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The centrifuge includes: a rotor containing a sample; a rotation detector detecting the rotation of the rotor; a drive device rotating the rotor; an operation part inputting and displaying operation conditions; and a control part rotating the drive device based on information input from the operation part. The centrifuge further includes a power failure detecting circuit detecting the cutoff of the power supply from a commercial AC power source; a clock outputting a fixed frequency; a rotation speed calculation means calculating the rotation speed of the rotor from signals of the rotation detector; a memory storing actual operation data like the rotation speed of the rotor; and a recorder supplying the power to the rotation detector, and having a battery supplying the power to the clock and rotation speed calculation means.
