<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which easily deforms or destroys a recording medium, reduces risk of leakage of recorded data regardless of whether a device body can be turned on or not and enabling a user to visually check the processing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the recording and reproducing device storing a recording medium 11, a hole is formed at a part of a cover constituting an enclosure of the recording and reproducing device.
