PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely secure ejection of a fluid when cleaning is carried out manually. SOLUTION: The FAX apparatus 10 includes a nozzle inspecting device 50 which has an inspection region 52 which receives the ink, a voltage applying circuit 53 which generates a predetermined potential difference between a printing head 36 and the inspection region 52, and a voltage detecting circuit 54 which detects an electric change of the inspection region. The FAX apparatus 10 inspects nozzles when an auto cleaning condition holds, and carries out cleaning when defective ejection is detected in a nozzle 33 from the inspection result, while refraining from cleaning when defective ejection is not detected. The FAX apparatus 10 inspects nozzles when receiving an execution command of manual cleaning from a user. While cleaning is carried out when defective ejection is detected in the nozzle 33 from the inspection result, the cleaning is also carried out when defective ejection is not detected.
