<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transport efficiency by optimizing the operation speed of an escalator based on the information of a train or station users. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This operation control device of the escalator is provided for connecting a part between the platform floor of a station and a ticket examination floor, and enhances the transport efficiency, by controlling the speed of the escalator, by selecting an optimal operation speed pattern, and by controlling the rising-lowering operation speed of the escalator based on the number of boarding persons from the train entering into and stopping at a station platform and the number of passenger advancing to the platform passing through a ticket gate.
